National Men’s Health Week provides information and awareness for health and wellness:
June 13th – June 19th, 2016 is National Men’s Health Week. This week is recognized to provide health awareness for men. At this time of year we acknowledge our father’s on Father’s Day and give more attention to the men in our lives. Men’s Health week is to educate people and provide alternatives to better health. Whether it be scheduling a long overdue doctor’s visit, getting blood pressure or cholesterol checks, increasing exercise or finding ways to cope with stress.
There are many things you can do to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating right, exercising, getting enough sleep and paying close attention to what your body is saying. Adults typically need about 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Exercise a minimum of 2 hours a week. Be mindful of the foods you eat. Watch sodium intake and eat in moderation. Be in tune with your body. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Busy lifestyles, taking care of family and sometimes fear of a possible diagnosis will prevent some men from scheduling regular doctors visits.
We know high stress levels have a very negative impact on our bodies. Finding ways to manage stress may help reduce the risk of serious health issues developing. Including regular massage as part of your health and wellness plan can be extremely beneficial in reducing stress.
